Mother's Day Series
A closer look at the women balancing careers, family, and everything in between.
Meet Sarah Flint
Founder and designer of her namesake luxury footwear and accessories brand, Sarah Flint. Trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology and apprenticed with Italian artisans, Sarah creates shoes designed to balance elegance, function, and real-life wear. As a mother of two, she moves between building a business and being fully present at home. Her perspective is shaped by that constant shift, leading, creating, and raising a family all at once.
We asked her about work, life, and everything in between. Keep scrolling to see what she’s wearing and how she styled it with her own pieces.
What do you love most about what you do?
What I love most is seeing something go from an idea to a finished product, and then hearing directly from customers about how they’re wearing it and what they notice. Our customers really pay attention to the details, and that’s incredibly rewarding.

What does a typical day look like for you, from start to finish?
Every day is different. I’m not just the designer and not just the CEO, so my role shifts constantly. One day I might be in the city meeting with investors, going to a conference, or having lunch with an editor. Another day I’m at home designing, or working through challenges with the team. The hardest part is jumping between all of those roles and still feeling creative.
When I’m with my kids, I try to be fully with them. I keep my phone out of the room, and I’ve set it so it only rings for certain people during those times. That’s made a big difference in helping me stay present.
What’s something you’re really proud of right now?
I’m proud of working on the balance side of things. It’s incredibly difficult, and I’ve seen that my work suffers if my personal life isn’t in a good place, and vice versa. I only do my best work when both are working well, so I’m proud of continuing to work through that and try to find that balance.

What’s one thing you’d tell another woman trying to balance work and motherhood?
You’re not going to feel balanced every day. I try to focus on having it more days than not. When work gets intense or I have to travel, I accept that tradeoff, then make a point to give that time back when things slow down. Something I’m still working on is trying not to feel guilty on either side. I’ve only been a mom for three years, so I’m a work in progress. For someone who spent most of her adult life very focused on work, it’s been a difficult transition.
